Building your network the right way!
As a business development professional I have read many books on how to improve your relationship building skills. This book provides examples in every chapter and encourages you to take action in a way that will successfully build your network. This book is for anyone looking to expand their business and social networks the right way! I have purchased extra copies already for a few mentees, as it’s the perfect gift for those graduating college, those looking to make a career change and even for those of us who already build relationships for a living. It’s a perfect (and entertaining) read to refresh and re-engage in your relationships.
NO KIDDING!!! One of the best books on networking and business development I have ever read!
In 155 pages, without preaching and making you feel guilty or inadequate, but rather, confident and empowered, Julie Brown brings a sense of energy and urgency to upping your networking and business development game to make more friends, have more fun, AND be more successful in your professional life. Brown brings a fresh approach to networking and business development that gives you a road map to expand your network in a personal and authentic way. No need for a long list of of "What to do"s and "What not to do"s. (Though she does include a list of "10 Lies about Networking" and "The 7 Key Traits of Successful Networkers".) She says just be yourself and get out there. A simple, but powerful tour-de-force! A must read for anyone - introvert or extrovert - who wants to expand and enhance their network, and move their professional engagement and success to a new level.
IDEAL for anyone who gets even slightly nervous walking into a group of strangers
As a marketing and PR professional, I spend my life walking into rooms (virtual or otherwise) where I may not know another soul in there. I am a naturally out-going person but even so, this type of situation could make anyone feel a little "deer in headlights." Julie's tips are easily actionable to put that feeling on the back burner. While I already actively practice much of what she discussed in the book, I appreciated the validation from a networking professional that I've got it right! Her style of writing is easy to digest and I immediately knew who in my network who would benefit from reading this book. Referrals have already gone out!

This author nailed it. Love her personality and ability to connect with the reader through the book. Great tips on networking and engaging people when you are not sure what to say or how to relate with them. I've bought this book for friends - its short and an easy read for anyone looking to get straight to the point.

Humor is chicken soup for the soul
Julie's humor certainly comes across wonderfully in her book. I appreciate the reflection points and actionable steps outlined to give a first look assessment of one's self and the steps to improve upon business development skillsets. It's a quick read with a conversational voice that's light, witty and will absolutely make you laugh.
Wow, it really does work
Wow, it really does work. I’ve started to use some of Julie’s recommendations, such as knowing where your network sits at different levels and how you share information about yourself when you’re not working. I have even more notes, which I’ll implement whenever we can get back together in person! I loved how she wrote the book. I loved her stories. And I loved her sharing some of her outcomes with how this stuff works.
More than networking for business
This book is easy and fun to read, very informative, and packed with wit and spunk! Julie brings to the forefront the importance of continually celebrating and nurturing your relationships, not only in business, but in your personal and familial life-space as well. An important read for those just entering the workforce and for those well established in their careers, as a reminder to what is at the core of your relationships and your overall success. Recommend!
Great read even if you do not think you are in business development.
I am not in business development but I have developed many great friendships with business development professionals through my profession. I have read a few books of this type to help me navigate the world of working with these professionals, and this book by far describes how the best in the business go about their professional career. Every BD professional should read this book and live by it. You will watch you life and career grow and improve greatly.
Will Make You Feel Good!
This was a tremendously fun reminder that work isn't just about work. We find meaning in the connection with other people, and that's what makes it all worth it! I loved that Julie removed the distinction between "work friends" and "friends" - that was paradigm shattering for me. Stories were real and advice was action-oriented, both with a dose of humor for good measure!
